Car Insurance Rates—Why Prices May Vary
Some people prefer to shop for car insurance online—it's convenient and quick. Others prefer to get in-person counsel and personal attention from an insurance agent or broker.
At Progressive, you can choose how you want to buy your car insurance: directly from us by phone or online, or through an independent agent or broker. Car insurance rates vary depending on how you buy.
If you buy through an agent or broker, for example, your car insurance rate includes the commission the agent or broker gets for selling the policy. If you buy directly from Progressive, the rate reflects the cost of building, staffing and maintaining the sales centers and marketing costs of the Direct Business.
Because prices vary based on how you buy, you won't know which company provides the lowest car insurance rate for you until you get quotes from us directly and through an agent or broker. An agent or broker may provide the lowest price for some customers, while the direct rate may be lower for others.
However you choose to buy your Progressive policy, you still receive the benefits and services Progressive offers to all its customers.
