Promoting safety within our communities

An eagerness to empower people with helpful information is part of Progressive’s culture. One way we’ve done this is by hosting child car seat safety checks and fingerprint identification services at our claims service centers.

An event at our Glen Burnie, Md. center in September 2011 drew expectant mothers and a new father—his newborn arrived the night before.

At a safety check in our Richmond, Va., office the same month, a grandmother came with three seats in her car and concerns about her grandchildren’s safety during an upcoming family trip.

As it turned out, all three seats were installed incorrectly, so technicians reinstalled them. The Richmond event had officials from Fort Lee Law Enforcement, New Kent Law Enforcement and the Virginia Department of Health on hand to help.

These two events helped ensure the safety of 59 children and we provided six replacement seats to attendees at no charge.

We also held car seat safety checks at our Tempe, Ariz., and Lynwood, Wash., service centers in 2011, and have  scheduled more events in 2012.
