At Progressive, art is more than decoration. It’s a valuable learning tool.
For example, to promote giving and kindness during the 2009 winter holiday season, our Corporate Art group hosted an art exhibition titled “The Art of Giving” in two of our Cleveland locations with works from patients at Hattie Larlham and PLAN of Northeast Ohio. Both organizations are dedicated to enriching patients’ lives through the healing and therapeutic process of creating art.
At the exhibit opening, employees and some patients participated in a panel discussion with representatives from both organizations to learn about their services and the societal stigma connected with their patients’ physical and mental conditions. Employees purchased many of the works on display, the proceeds of which went directly to the patients.
In 2009, we also had an opportunity to view a travelling art exhibit exploring attitudes about prejudice, as well as a series of art walks that used existing works on our walls to educate us on inclusion and acceptance of others.
