Feeding Our Communities
One of life's necessities is food, and we helped ensure those in need had enough.

February 2009

Our employees collected 673 pounds of food and $280 to benefit the Southern Colorado Care and Share Food Bank.

This is just a sampling of the food we gathered.

March 2009

Personal Lines employees banded together to benefit the Cleveland Foodbank. We collected 1,950 pounds of food and $1,091 for the foodbank's Harvest for Hunger campaign, which helped serve 16,535 meals to those in need.

March 2009

Members of Progressive's Real Estate team participated in the Sixth Annual Canstruction® event, building a Rubik's Cube out of 1,400 cans of food, which was all donated to the Cleveland
Foodbank.

Believe it or not, this Rubik's Cube is made entirely of cans of food.

November 2009

Progressive partnered with the Cleveland Indians on a fall food drive, with our employees alone collecting 5,700 pounds of food for the Cleveland Foodbank.

After collecting food donations, several employees also went to the Cleveland Foodbank to help pack up the food for local delivery.

November 2009

In Coon Rapids and Burnsville, Minn., employees worked with local body shops and vendors for the third year in a row to organize and package food for Kids Against Hunger, a nonprofit organization focused on hunger needs in the U.S. and the world. Together, we packed 50,000 meals and raised more than $2,500 for children.

November / December 2009

Employees in our Riverview, Fla., contact center collected over 730 pounds of food in November and December for Metropolitan Ministries, an organization that helps men, women, and children in the Tampa Bay region find food, housing, and other life essentials.

December 2009

Our sales and claims people combined efforts with our agent partners across Ohio to gather more than 3,000 food items (equaling two tons of food) for local food banks as well as cash donations.

Look at some of the food collected as part of an all-day effort in Cincinnati.

December 2009

Claims people put our Immediate Response Vehicles to work in Leesburg, Va., to partner with local agents and body shop staff to donate 460 pounds of food to the Capital Area Food Bank.

Throughout 2009

We had 248 people from several work teams volunteer more than 500 hours at the Cleveland Foodbank throughout the year through 15 separate teambuilding and community service activities.
