With more than 3,000 Immediate Response Vehicles (IRVs) nationwide, we promise fast, local claims support when and where you need us. While our IRVs enable us to navigate road conditions and carry the equipment we need to serve you, we’re aware that these sport utility vehicles leave a larger environmental footprint than we’d like. 

To reduce our emissions and maintain superior service, we’ve begun to replace our larger, 6-cylinder vehicles with more fuel efficient 4-cylinder models. We’re also transitioning most of the vehicles our sales and special investigation groups use to 4-cylinder models. At the end of 2009, 4-cylinder models comprised 28% of our company fleet.

Additionally, through the Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE, we are encouraging the creation of the next generation of fuel-efficient vehicles. The competition will move efforts further and faster toward having more fuel-efficient vehicles for consumers to choose from and for us to consider for our fleet.
