Getting a Second Chance
People get second chances. Why not office furniture? With a cleaning and tune up, we breathe new life into our gently used office furniture for reuse in our buildings or for sale to others, like liquidators and landlords in buildings we rent. We also donate furniture to charitable organizations in need.
Our goal: Reuse 95% of existing furniture instead of buying new for all furniture-related projects. For 2009, we had a 98% reuse rate, which equates to $11.8 million worth of furniture that didn’t end up in a landfill or need to be built by manufacturers.
We donated furniture to these Cleveland, Ohio-based organizations: the Hispanic Business Council, E-Prep School and Case Elementary School. To ensure that the people in these organizations who dedicate themselves to improving the community get the most value from our donations, our interior designers helped redesign their work environment using the donated furniture.
