We have incorporated environmentally friendly methods into our landscape maintenance. Here are some of our tried and true approaches you can do at home:
- Use Elli pots, which dissolve in the soil, and plant in organically amended soil. Otherwise, return pots from potted annual plants to vendors for reuse, if possible.
- Limit chemical fertilizers and pesticides by using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) as an effective, environmentally sensitive approach to pest/landscape management.
- Choose plants and trees that serve as food sources for birds and other wildlife.
- Use leaf blowers and chain saws with reduced noise levels, designed to be used with non-petroleum based oils and lubricants. Also, use efficient emissions controls on power equipment.
- Recycle grass clippings for mulch and compost, which reduces fertilizer and watering needs.
- Use rain sensors on sprinkling systems to minimize unnecessary watering.
