Caring for causes from coast to coast
For the more than 11,000 employees in our Claims organization, helping others often means more than supporting customers. It can also mean rallying together for charitable activities.
Throughout 2011, employees organized and participated in activities ranging from clothing, food and toy drives; to pet adoption events; to charitable motorcycle rides. Here are just a couple of the highlights.
During National Blood Donor month in January, claims employees in Florida coordinated with the state’s three main blood services. They donated more than 250 units of blood during bloodmobile events at our offices. Each of those blood units, according to the American Red Cross, can save the lives of up to three people.
In November, employees in California participated in a statewide food drive. Their goal was to collect 3,000 lbs. of food in a two-week period. They ended up donating over 8,000 lbs. of food to local food banks across the state.
“Seeing so many members of our claims offices give back during our ‘Drive Out Hunger’ campaign was truly an inspiration,” says Claims Director and event coordinator Carolyn Nogy. “None of us imagined that we’d more than double our contribution goals. That just goes to show you the power of collective motivation.”
