(Last updated May 22, 2002)

We work hard to protect your personal information. This policy describes the information we collect about you and how we can use it.

Teens.progressive.com is not intended for people under the age of 13. We do not collect personal information from people we know to be under the age of 13. If in the future we develop areas of our Web site intended for children under the age of 13, we will implement a special privacy statement that complies with the requirements of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") and other applicable laws. For more information about COPPA, please refer to the Federal Trade Commission's Web site, located at www.ftc.gov.

Who does this Privacy Policy cover?
This Privacy Policy applies to visitors to teens.progressive.com. This replaces all previous privacy policies for teens.progressive.com that we have made available to you as of the date noted above. Visitors to other Web sites within the Progressive Group of Insurance Companies will be subject to different privacy policies. This policy does not cover links to third party Web sites.

What information do we collect about you?
The information we collect at teens.progressive.com allows you to participate in activities, such as playing games. It allows us to conduct online contests or sweepstakes, post messages, or offer other online activities. We collect the following information:

  • Response Information: This is information you provide to us in response to features such as questions, quizzes, polls, contests and sweepstakes. We will not disclose personally identifiable Response Information, including your e-mail address, without your consent.
  • Web Site Information: This is information your computer sends when you visit our Web site. It includes the Web site you visited before ours, your Internet service provider and operating system, and the pages you viewed on our site. We also store "cookies" on your computer to collect technical data, such as your Internet protocol (IP) address, operating system, and session ID. We will not disclose personally identifiable Web Site Information without your consent.

Will we share your information with anyone outside Progressive?
We may use your Response Information to send e-mail to you about teens.progressive.com, and to send requested e-mail messages on your behalf. In addition, we may share Response Information with third parties who handle contests and sweepstakes on our behalf only for the purpose of conducting the contest or sweepstakes.

We may also share personally identifiable Response or Web Site Information with third parties to prevent or detect fraud, comply with the law, comply with requests by law enforcement or regulatory agencies, enforce our Terms and Conditions, protect the rights, property, or safety of our Web site, Web site visitors and others, or in connection with a sale of all or a portion of our business.

How do we protect your information?
We restrict access to your information to those people who we feel must use that information. Their right to further share and use the information is limited by our employee code of conduct, applicable law, and nondisclosure agreements where we deem appropriate. We also maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards in compliance with applicable laws and regulations to guard your personally identifiable information.

What does the technical jargon mean?
Cookie: A small text file of information saved in your computer when you access certain Web pages. Cookies hold information that identifies you to the Web site (and only that Web site) that gave you the cookie.

Internet protocol (IP) address: The numbers that are translated into a domain name, like "progressive.com." The address is a string of four numbers separated by periods (such as 111.22.3.244) used to represent a computer or other device on the Internet.

Operating system: The program responsible for overseeing the basic hardware resources of a computer such as disk drives, memory, keyboard, screen, and CPU. UNIX, DOS, Windows, and Macintosh System 7 are examples of operating systems.

Session ID: The code used to keep track of a person (using a browser) as they interact with a server. Since the server may interact with many people simultaneously, a session ID is needed to keep track of each person individually.
