Happy Earth Day!
What a great time to talk about the many things we all do to make a difference in the world around us — or as we often refer to it, “social responsibility.”
I know social responsibility has different connotations, depending on how you define or view it. To us, though, it just means doing the right thing and being accountable for the effect of our business activities on social, environmental, and economic sustainability.
On our new Web site, “Progressive Together,” we talk openly about how we’re trying to be more socially responsible and offer tips to help each of us contribute.
For example, want to reduce your carbon footprint and help the environment? Get tips for recycling, donating used furniture for reuse, reducing your paper trail, landscaping in sustainable ways, and more.
On the site, we also talk about how we support our local communities by volunteering and sharing our skills and resources to help others, whether it’s donating vehicles for needy families and training emergency teams at accident scenes, or providing career coaching to high-school students and adults in the job market.
In short, be it recycling and turning off lights, or driving safer and smarter, we want all of you to help us insure a better world (yes, pun intended).
So, come on, let's be progressive together. What do you do to give the environment a little TLC, and is it important to you that your insurance company be socially responsible?
