What is the purpose of Progressive's pre-employment assessment?

It helps us choose the right people for the right jobs. We evaluate qualifications, fit with Progressive's values and potential for success. It's also an opportunity for you to learn about our organization and decide if this is the right place for you.

What will I need to take the assessment, and how long does it take?

You'll need the following:

  • A computer with a reliable Internet connection. For best results, use a Windows-based PC with Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher. If you use a Mac, please use an up-to-date version of Google Chrome or Firefox.
  • At least 45-60 minutes of uninterrupted time.
  • To complete the assessment as soon as possible upon receiving this email in order to continue to move through the hiring process. Once you log in to the assessment for the first time, your username and password will be valid for 48 hours.

If you need a break while taking the assessment, you must log out by closing your browser. The timer on the assessment will stop and your responses will be saved. When you are ready to continue, you'll need to log back in using the instructions in your invitation. You'll restart at the point in the assessment where you left off.

Please complete the entire assessment before you submit your answers. You won't be able to access it after you submit.

How can I prepare for the assessment?

There's no need to study or prepare. We aren't assessing how much you know about a subject or task. We just want to understand how you reason, draw conclusions and understand trends. We also ask about your work preferences, preferred work style and situations, and your interests.

When and how will I get my assessment results?

You will receive an email within two business days.

If I do not meet the hiring requirements, can I retake the assessment(s)?

Yes. You can retake the assessment 180 days after your original assessment date.

If I don't qualify, can I get feedback to help me to do better the next time?

Unfortunately, no. We don't offer any specific feedback on your assessment results. Candidates are only advised whether they qualified or did not qualify.

How long are my assessment results good for if I qualify?

Qualified results are valid for two years.

After the assessment, what other steps will I have to complete before I get a job offer?

These vary by the job. If your results meet job requirements, you will be contacted via phone or email regarding next steps.

I have years of related experience and I did not pass the assessment.

Even candidates who have related experience may not have the specific skills that are required for similar positions at Progressive. This assessment helps us assess your fit with the job and within our culture.

Do I have to take the assessment?

If the job requires it, yes. To move forward with the hiring process, you'll have to take it.

Are there different types of online assessments for every job?

No. However, the scoring/requirements may differ by position.

I don't have a personal computer. What should I do?

You can use any computer that has a reliable Internet connection. A public library is one option to consider.

Can I use my mobile phone, smartphone or tablet to take the assessment?

No. You'll need to use a laptop or desktop computer with a reliable Internet connection. Most mobile devices don't have the Internet technology to fully support the assessment's functionality.

What if I don't have an email account?

You need an email account to take the assessment, get your results and communicate with your recruiter. We recommend creating one using any of the free email services.

Whom do I contact if I have technical problems during the assessment?

Once you've logged into the assessment, you'll see a technical support link on the bottom of each screen. Use this link to submit your question or issue. A technical support representative will contact you within one business day.
