Progressive® Insurance 2014 Year in Claims Report: Commercial Lines

Nov 24th, 2015

In the 2014 Year in Claims Report, two groups had similar findings—Commercial Lines (business vehicles) and personal autos.

It seems to make sense, as they share the same roads and aren’t seasonal, like boats and motorcycles.

Similarities included the top months for claims being May and June, and the top three claims being rear-end accidents, single vehicle claims, and parked claims.

They differed with the fourth most frequent claim. For Commercial Lines, that spot was held by backing claims.

“In my experience, truckers are great drivers; but when you’re moving a rig that size into tight spaces, accidents can happen,” said Commercial Auto Claims Field Specialist Mark Leadem. “Private passenger vehicles like cars and SUVs are much smaller and don’t face the same challenges. The fact that backing claims were that low on the list is really a testament to the ability of our Commercial Lines customers.”
