Deciphering Disclaimers: Drivers

Adjust Font: A A A

When you get a quote, you need to identify the drivers you'd like insured on your policy. Here are a few disclaimers you'll encounter about the drivers you'd like to insure.

If you see this: It means this:
We make certain assumptions about you and the drivers and vehicles you want to insure. We're going to assume the drivers and vehicles you want to insure meet our criteria. If they don't, your quote could change. So, if we see that someone's driving record isn't spotless, we'll probably charge more than if it is spotless.
You and all drivers have had continuous liability insurance with a "standard" insurance company for the past five years. All the drivers you want to insure are not considered high-risk and/or have not been insured by a nonstandard company for the past five years.
You and all drivers have verifiable driving records. If we can't verify anyone's driving record, you could end up paying more for insurance.
You and all drivers in your household age 19 and older have been licensed for at least three years. Any driver who you want to insure who is 19 years old must have received a license at age 16. If any drivers you want to insure are older than 19, they must have been licensed for at least three years.
All drivers reside at the primary residence and all vehicles are garaged and/or parked at that residence. We assume listed drivers live at the address on the policy, and we assume all vehicles are kept primarily at that address.
When you proceed, we will obtain driving records for all listed drivers and household members with the appropriate agency or state. If you decide you want to purchase a policy, we're going to order driving records for all the drivers you want to insure on your policy.
No driver requires a state filing. If any of the drivers you want to insure need to file an SR-22 or similar document to prove financial responsibility, your quote will be different — and most likely higher.
Each rated driver is considered the principal driver and is fully licensed. Each driver is the main driver of a vehicle and has a valid, active license.
Adverse credit history will influence the premium you will be charged. If you have bad credit, you will pay more for insurance.
