Catastrophe Claims
Members of the National Catastrophe Response Team are specially trained and equipped
claims representatives who work in areas hit by severe weather. The team responds
to weather-related emergencies, such as hurricanes, hailstorms, tornadoes and floods,
that affect large numbers of our customers. The team works with local Progressive
people to determine the extent of damage and the number of customers affected, then
implements a plan to help customers get back on the road as quickly as possible.
Progressive Claims Service
The Catastrophe Response program is an extension of Progressive's claims service,
which ensures that claims professionals are available when and where customers need
them, regardless of the day, time or circumstances of the claim.
Products Covered By the Catastrophe Response Team
All of our insurance products, including auto, motorcycle, boat/PWC, RV and commercial
auto, are supported by the Catastrophe Response Team and Progressive Claims Service.
Equipped to Make a Difference
Each Catastrophe Response representative drives a specially equipped Immediate Response® Vehicle (IRV) and is equipped with a digital
camera (to document and transmit damage information), a laptop computer with claims
software and state-of-the-art wireless communication equipment.
Claims Reporting
Customers affected by a local catastrophe can login and report a claim 24 hours a day. Claims are handled by Catastrophe-trained customer service specialists in our Catastrophe Response Center.
Claims Results
The Catastrophe Response Team typically resolves 90 percent of local claims within
two weeks of launching their emergency response programs. In most cases, our claims
resolution can be measured in hours rather than days.
Special Services
Progressive often establishes "drive-in" claims operations, especially
after hail catastrophes. In many cases, the vehicles are inspected and the damage
repaired during a single visit to a drive-in operation.
