Honoring veterans through our vehicle donation event

Giving back to those who gave so much

Since 2013, Progressive has been honoring veterans with vehicle donations through the Keys to Progress® veteran vehicle giveaway program. The one-day vehicle giveaway events happen annually and are a strong source of pride for everyone who works here. Employees across the country volunteer to select vehicles to donate, organize fundraising activities to collect money or goods to provide recipient families, and plan memorable vehicle giveaway events for the recipients.

This program is a way for us to come together as a company to give back to people who have given so much for our country.

Program Information

Event locations

Vehicle giveaways primarily take place at various Progressive offices and Enterprise Rent-A-Car locations across the United States. Recipients are expected to live in or near event locations or arrange travel to them. The Keys to Progress veteran vehicle giveaway program distributes vehicles once a year, typically in November (with the exception of the fall truck giveaway).

Program affiliates

We work with military and charity organizations to find veterans in need of a vehicle and purchase recent-model used vehicles from Enterprise Rent-A-Car for donation. We also work closely with these organizations to administer this program every year:

Application information

The Keys to Progress veteran vehicle giveaway program provides support to those in need in the following areas:

  1. Personal transportation support: Our hope is to offer a little relief and improve the lives of military men and women facing tough personal circumstances for which a vehicle may help — from finding employment or transporting children to and from school to getting to medical appointments or visiting loved ones.

Application for personal transportation needs will be accepted from 8:00 AM (local standard time) on Monday, April 1, 2024 to 11:59 PM (local standard time) on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024. If you want to request an application, send an email to:

  1. Commercial vehicle needs: Vehicles also are available to help veteran-focused organizations and non-profits and veteran-owned small businesses.

Application for commercial vehicle needs will be accepted from 8:00 AM (local standard time) on Monday, April 1, 2024 to 11:59 PM (local standard time) on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024. If you want to request an application, send an email to:

  1. Class 8 truck operator giveaway: Since 2022, a Class 8 semitruck also is gifted to one program recipient annually, typically in the fall of each year to help them start or expand their own truck operation.

Applications for the Class 8 truck operator giveaway will be accepted from 8:00 AM (local standard time) on Monday, March 4, 2024 to 11:59 PM (local standard time) on Monday, July 1, 2024. If you want to request an application, send an email to:

Katy L.

2021 Recipient Navy

After struggling with service-related PTSD, Katy found herself feeling isolated and missing a social support system. On top of that, her vehicle was inoperable, making it hard for Katy to travel to the Veterans Affairs hospital for treatment. Even simple tasks like getting groceries were difficult. But that began to change when she received her Keys to Progress vehicle.

Nadia O.

2020 Recipient Army

As a single mother with three sons, Nadia was homeless living in an emergency hotel until she enrolled in the Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUDVASH) program. Since then, she’s moved into a three-bedroom house, but in an entirely new city. This is when she became a Keys to Progress recipient.
