Kitten and cat insurance plans
You'll choose from three cat insurance plan types: accident-only, accident and illness, and wellness.
Accidental injury cat insurance
Accident Only plan for cats
As the most affordable option, the Accident Only plan can save you some scratch. This type of cat insurance can cover bills associated with injuries such as bites, wounds, broken bones, and swallowing objects. Keep in mind that this plan won't cover illness.
Pricing: $6 per month*
Accident and illness cat insurance
BestBenefit plan for cats
Building on everything in the Accident Only plan, a BestBenefit plan can also cover any ailment your cat suffers except pre-existing conditions. This more comprehensive coverage can reimburse you for diagnostic exams, emergency care, and specialist visits, while allowing you to choose a deductible that feels right for your budget. Your reimbursement percentage will then be set accordingly, at 70%, 80%, or 90% of your cat's covered bills once you've met your annual deductible.
Pricing: Estimated cost: $21 per month**
Routine care cat insurance
EssentialWellness and BestWellness plans for cats
Either of these plans can be added to your BestBenefit plan to cover wellness exams, dental cleanings, annual vaccines, and routine or preventive care, with no deductible. Two levels of wellness coverage make this a popular option for both kittens and older cats to help with expected health costs throughout the year.
What cat health insurance doesn't cover
Pre-existing health conditions aren't covered in cat and kitten insurance plans. If your feline has been diagnosed with a specific health issue prior to your cat insurance going into effect, treatment and care won't be covered. You can still secure coverage for your cat; just keep in mind that any treatment related to the pre-existing condition won't be covered.
Cat insurance plans that only cover accidents or accidents and illnesses don't include coverage for elective procedures or preventative care. However, the EssentialWellness and BestWellness add-on plans can cover specific preventative and elective procedures.
Other things not covered by cat insurance include non-veterinary expenses, including those related to your cat's food and diet, grooming, boarding, and holistic treatments. Learn more about what pet insurance covers and doesn't cover.

Common questions about cat insurance
Is cat insurance worth it?
Routine care and vet visits are costly enough; if your cat gets injured or sick, you could face astronomical bills, especially for emergency care scenarios. Pet insurance can alleviate this worry — and potentially save you thousands of dollars.
Is pet insurance worth it for an indoor cat?
Though indoor cats may be less likely to suffer the injuries their outdoor counterparts do, they're just as susceptible to diseases and other health issues. Having cat insurance helps provide peace of mind in case the unexpected happens.
Does cat insurance cover neutering and spaying?
Neutering and spaying aren't covered under Accident Only or BestBenefit but they're covered under BestWellness, which can be added on to your BestBenefit plan.
How much is insurance for a kitten?
The cost will vary based on where you live, the age and breed of your kitten, and how much coverage you want. Learn more about how pet insurance works.
