Explore more basics of travel insurance.
From lost luggage to nonrefundable hotel deposits, Progressive travel insurance from InsureMyTrip covers you for listed, unforeseen events that may cause you to have to cancel your travel arrangements. Coverage levels will vary per plan, but here's how you'll typically be protected with a standard travel insurance plan:
Travel insurance coverages
Trip cancellation insurance may reimburse you up to 100% of your insured trip cost for specific unforeseen reasons that are covered under your comprehensive plan.
If your trip needs to be interrupted for unforeseen specific reasons that are covered under your plan, you may be reimbursed up to your plan's specific limits for covered prepaid, non-refundable trip cost. You can potentially be reimbursed for flight, cruise, or hotel costs plus additional fees if your trip is cut short
If you need to cancel your trip for something other than one of the listed covered reasons, adding optional Cancel For Any Reason protection for an additional cost may allow you to be reimbursed for a portion of your trip. This is an optional, time-sensitive benefit, available on some plans. If you purchase your plan within 10-21 days (depending on the plan) after your initial trip deposit/payment, insure 100% of prepaid, nonrefundable trip cost, and cancel your trip no less than two days prior to departure, Cancel For Any Reason can reimburse up to 50%-75%, of your trip cost. Eligibility requirements vary by company and coverage may not be available in all states.
If you need emergency medical treatment due to a covered illness or emergency dental treatment during your trip, you can be reimbursed up to your coverage limits for expenses you may incur.
A pre-existing conditions waiver may be available on some plans for those who purchase travel insurance within a certain time frame after their initial payment and meet all other eligibility requirements. This may allow you to waive the pre-existing conditions exclusion which applies to many other coverages.
If you suffer an injury or accidental death during a trip, some plans may offer benefits up to your policy limits to be paid to you or your beneficiary.
If you require emergency medical care, travel support, business services, or have met the criteria to be eligible for an emergency medical evacuation, you will have 24-hour access to request assistance.
If your luggage is lost or damaged during your trip, you may be covered for those belongings up to your plan's limits. If your baggage is delayed up to a certain number of hours, you may get reimbursed for necessary items purchased during the delay.
The Anytime Advocates® program is available for all travelers who purchase a plan from InsureMyTrip. If a claim is denied by your insurance company, you have the option to have your claim reviewed. These advocates will assist with the appeal process, and work hard to help find a satisfactory outcome.
Based on the plan you choose and your ability to meet all eligibility requirements, there may be a few travel insurance coverages that are not included in your plan. For example, cancel for any reason coverage can be added to, but is not automatically included in some comprehensive plans, and vacation rental damage coverage is only included on a vacation rental plan. Make sure to carefully review what is included in the plan you choose.
Travel insurance plans may vary based on your provider, but offer peace of mind and protection for your investment when scheduling a trip.
This is the best protection for your trip and usually includes coverage for cancellation, interruption, delay, baggage, medical, dental, emergency evacuation, 24-hour traveler assistance, and accidental death.
Travel Medical Plans offer specific, defined coverage for someone traveling outside their home country and requiring medical insurance that can help to fill the gaps in their primary health insurance coverage.
This provides transport assistance if you become ill or injured while traveling, and may also cover transportation to an appropriate facility if a physician feels you will be better suited there.
Accidental death plans provides a paid benefit to the named beneficiary in the event of death or dismemberment while traveling.
If you’re a U.S. resident and your vacation rental is accidentally damaged during your trip, a vacation rental damage plan may pay up to a set limit for property damage to condos, cabins, villas, apartments, and more.
