Individual and family health insurance plans

eHealth gives you the power to compare plans and premiums in just a few clicks.

Individual health insurance

If you suffer an injury or illness, individual health insurance can help pay for the cost of health care. Health insurance can also help pay for a wide range of medical services including medical emergencies, routine doctor's appointments, preventative care, prescription drugs, and inpatient/outpatient treatment. You'll typically pay a monthly premium, plus a deductible or copayment.

Family health insurance

Family health insurance plans function just like individual health insurance, except the coverage and benefits are available to your family. Generally, that means you, your spouse or partner and your eligible children under 26 years old are all covered under the same plan.

Short-term health insurance

One of the most popular plans through eHealth, short-term health insurance provides coverage for a fixed period of time (three months to three years). Short-term health insurance is typically 80% cheaper than most medical plans, but may have limited benefits. Short-term plans won't cover maternity leave, mental health, substance abuse, and pre-existing conditions.

Shop short term health plans starting from $50/month.

Dental insurance

eHealth is also your link to affordable dental insurance with plans starting at $8.85/month. Plans will vary per carrier, but normally cover preventive and basic care (oral exams, cleanings, fillings and X-rays). Shop dental plans today.

Vision insurance

Vision insurance plans start as low as $6.99/month through eHealth. Remember, eye care may not be covered by your health plan and vision insurance can lower your out of pocket costs for routine exams, plus eyeglasses and/or contacts lenses. Shop vision plans today.

Affordable Care Act insurance

Applying for a nationwide government health insurance plan can be challenging. eHealth makes it easy to apply online at no cost to you, providing an application guarantee and insuring your application will get in on time.

HSA Compatible Health Plans

HSA plans are often less expensive than other plans, and enable you to gain tax-free interest on the money in your health savings account. You can deduct 100% of your health savings account plan contributions from your taxable income. Note that some HSA plans charge a monthly maintenance fee.

Medicare and supplemental health insurance

Medicare insurance plans include coverage for hospital, medical, and some prescription drugs. Medicare supplemental insurance plans, also called Medigap, can help pay for your copays and deductibles. You can also explore Medicare Part D plans, which are a standalone prescription drug program offering coverage for medication costs. eHealth makes it easy to browse insurance plans in your area while advocating for you throughout the process. Guidance is available at no cost from more than 200 licensed insurance agents.

Small business health insurance

As a small business owner, you can shop for group health insurance for your employees at any time of the year and browse a variety of insurers and coverages through eHealth. You'll need at least one employee to qualify for a small business plan and you'll contribute toward employee premiums. As of 2016, per the Affordable Care Act, businesses with 50 or more full-time employees must offer affordable health insurance or pay a tax penalty.

The cost of group health insurance will be determined by a variety of factors, such as the size and location of your business and the age of your employees. The Affordable Care Act mandates that the health of your employees, including pre-existing conditions, will not impact your rates for group health insurance.

You can offer multiple plans to best serve your employees. Some may prefer more flexibility in selecting out-of-network doctors and dentists, which results in a higher premium. Some may favor a cheaper plan with restrictions for staying with a doctor and dentist in your chosen insurance network.

Find a plan that fits your company's needs.

Group Dental insurance

You'll have plenty of options when choosing a group dental plan for your small business. Most group dental plans include free cleanings and regular checkups. As always, there is no extra cost for buying group dental insurance through eHealth instead of directly through the insurer. You'll have the flexibility to compare a wide selection of dental plans from various insurers.

Group Vision insurance

Group vision insurance plans can pay for eye exams, eyeglasses, ocular surgery and other eye-related medical care. Vision insurance is normally purchased as an addition to your regular small business health plan. While businesses aren't legally required to offer vision plans as part of their health insurance, tax incentives are available as a reward for small business to do so.

Other health insurance offerings

Critical illness insurance

With regular health insurance plans, you could face considerable out-of-pocket expenses which is why having a critical illness insurance plan can be beneficial. Unlike traditional health insurance, which reimburses the insured or provider for covered claims, critical illness insurance pays you directly if you're diagnosed with a covered critical illness and there are no copays or deductibles. Your insurer typically makes a lump sum cash payment for serious medical issues such as a heart attack, stroke, and cancer.

Telemedicine enables health professionals to provide services to you remotely, at lower costs, if you don't require physical contact with a doctor or nurse. Instead of coming into an office, you can communicate with doctors and nurses online. Doctors can help and diagnose far more patients this way, which is why purchasing a plan through eHealth that covers telemedicine may be more convenient and affordable.
