A lightweight vehicle that can be pedaled or powered by a small engine. More on moped insurance.
A two-wheel vehicle usually with much smaller wheels and an engine that only powers the rear wheel. More on scooter insurance.
A lightweight motorcycle with rugged tires and enhanced suspension that's designed mostly for off-road riding. In many states, these aren't legal on roads or streets. More on dirt bike insurance.
Vintage and antique
Also known as "classic" or "collectible," and classified as 25 years or older. More on vintage and vintage and antique motorcycle insurance.
If you carry comprehensive and collision coverage, we'll insure up to $3,000 in customizations at no extra cost. If $3000 isn't enough coverage, you can purchase up to $30,000. More on customized motorcycle insurance.
Sport and high performance
Also called street bikes and built for speed or rapid acceleration/deceleration. More on sport motorcycle insurance.
Cruisers are the most common type of motorcycle and usually include a V-twin, full view engine, swept-back, and/or high handlebars with forward-set foot pegs and a stepped seat for two. Common makes/models include Harley Davidson, Honda Shadow, Kawasaki Vulcan, Suzuki Boulevard, etc. More on cruiser insurance.
Touring and sport touring
Touring motorcycles, including types with large fairings, luggage compartments, and sport touring motorcycles, are more aerodynamic. Common models we insure include Honda ST1300, Triumph Tiger, BMW K1600, etc.
A three-wheel motorcycle with handle bars and open (instead of enclosed) riding. Trikes usually have two wheels in the rear and one in the front. We'll also insure converted trikes and reverse trikes (two wheels in the front and one in the rear).
An ATV/UTV usually has four wheels (but can have anywhere from 3-8) and is designed for off-road riding. Home insurance policies normally won't cover an ATV if you ride it off your property, so you'll likely need a special ATV policy. More on ATV insurance.
Enclosed, three-wheeled motorcycle with steering wheels and seating that doesn't require you to straddle the vehicle (usually bucket or bench seating).
Enduro (on-road/off-road motorcycle)
An on-road/off-road type motorcycle, equipped with lights and mirrors that is designed to be ridden on both unpaved surfaces and highways. Common models we insure include Honda XR Series, Kawasaki KLX Series, and Yamaha WR Series.
We'll be ready for the next motorcycle
We'll always take a proactive approach to insuring new bikes. When a new type of motorcycle is introduced, we hop on and do a little "hands-on" research. That way we can have a policy ready even before it hits the market. Tough job, right?
